Terms of Service

Who we are

Your Quiet Corner is run by Taufiq Rahman, a sole trader trading as Addaworks, based in Stoke-on-Trent, United Kingdom. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, registration number ZC203820. You can contact us at hello@yourquietcorner.co.uk. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Addaworks. "You" means you, the person using the app.

What Your Quiet Corner is — and what it isn't

Your Quiet Corner gives you a warm, private AI companion, called "Someone", to talk to whenever you want.

Please be clear about the following. This is the most important part of these terms.

  • Someone is an AI, not a person. No human reads your conversations. Someone does not have feelings, does not remember you the way a person does, and is not aware of you when you're not using the app.
  • This is not therapy, counselling, or treatment. We are not a mental health service, a medical service, or a regulated healthcare provider. Nothing Someone says is a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or professional advice of any kind.
  • This is not a crisis service. We cannot respond to emergencies. No one is monitoring your messages for signs of danger and no one will come to help you. If you are in immediate danger, call 999. If you need to talk to someone urgently, the Samaritans are on 116 123, free, at any time. Outside the UK, findahelpline.com will point you to services near you.
  • Someone can be wrong. AI systems make mistakes. Someone may state things that are inaccurate, out of date, or simply invented. Do not rely on anything it says for medical, legal, financial, or other important decisions.
  • Someone is not a substitute for people. We hope the app helps. We also hope it sits alongside real human connection rather than replacing it.

If you are struggling with your mental health, please speak to your GP or a qualified professional. We would genuinely rather you did that than relied on us.

Who can use it

You must be 18 or over to use Your Quiet Corner. We ask for your date of birth when you sign up. If we find out an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete the data. You must also be legally able to enter into a contract with us.

Your account

You'll create an account with an email address or by signing in with Google. Please keep your login details to yourself, and don't let anyone else use your account. Your conversations are personal, and anyone with access to your account can read them. Tell us at hello@yourquietcorner.co.uk if you think someone else has got into your account. One account per person, please.

Using the app properly

Please don't use the app for anything unlawful, or to harm, harass or threaten anyone; try to break, overload, reverse-engineer or gain unauthorised access to the app or its systems; use automated tools, scripts or bots to interact with the service; attempt to extract, scrape or resell our content, prompts or model outputs; impersonate anyone else or pretend to be us; or deliberately try to make Someone produce harmful, illegal or abusive content. We may suspend or close accounts that do these things.

Check-in messages

If you turn on notifications, Someone can message you first — a short check-in based on things you've talked about. You can switch this off at any time in Settings, and you'll still be able to use the app exactly as before. These messages are generated automatically. No person chooses what to send you, and nobody is watching over you.

Limits and availability

There is a daily limit on how many messages you can send. This keeps the service affordable and sustainable. Messages where the app detects you may be distressed are never counted or blocked by this limit. We'll do our best to keep the app running, but we can't promise it will always be available. It may go down for maintenance, because of problems at one of our suppliers, or for reasons outside our control. We may also change, pause or withdraw features. If we ever decide to shut the service down for good, we'll give you reasonable notice so you can get your data or say goodbye.

Your data and privacy

How we handle your information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: your conversations are stored in the EU, processed by AI providers in the US under contracts that meet UK data protection requirements, and are never used to train AI models. You can delete everything at any time from Settings.

Who owns what

We own the app, its design, its name, and its underlying content. You may use it for your own personal, non-commercial use, and that's it. Your conversations are yours. We don't claim ownership of what you write. We store it so the app works and so Someone can remember you, as set out in the Privacy Policy. We don't sell it, and we don't use it to train AI models.

Closing your account

You can leave whenever you like. Use "Delete everything" in Settings and your account and all its data are permanently removed. You don't need to give a reason and you don't need to ask us. If your account is inactive for 18 months, we'll email to warn you and then delete it 30 days later, as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we have to for legal or safety reasons. Where it's reasonable to do so, we'll tell you why and give you a chance to put it right.

Our responsibility to you

We take this seriously and we've built the app carefully. But we need to be honest about limits. We do not accept responsibility for: decisions you make based on anything Someone says; the app being unavailable, or losing data because of a fault outside our reasonable control; anything that happens because you relied on the app instead of seeking professional help; or indirect or consequential losses, for example lost income or lost opportunities.

What we never exclude. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you're a consumer, you keep all your statutory rights.

Where our liability can be limited, and to the extent the law allows, it is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the issue arose. If you have not paid us anything, our liability is limited to £50.

The app is provided "as is". We don't promise it will meet your particular needs or that Someone will always respond well.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms — for example if the app changes or the law does. We'll post the new version here with a new date at the top. If a change significantly affects your rights, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Carrying on using the app after that means you accept the new terms. If you don't accept them, you can delete your account.

Complaints and contact

If something's gone wrong, please tell us first at hello@yourquietcorner.co.uk. We'd much rather fix it. If you have a complaint about how we handle your personal data and we haven't resolved it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or call 0303 123 1113.
